Corrections Officer
Presidio County Sheriff’s Office is seeking to hire Correctional Officers to join our existing team. Starting pay is $18.32 per hour. Applicants must become fully licensed within one year of their hire date.

Responsibilities for Correctional Officer
- Book and process incoming and outgoing prisoners according to written policies and procedures
- Write detailed and accurate incident reports
- Patrol the interior and exterior of the facility
- Conduct inmate and cell searches
- Inspect visitors and packages delivered to the facility
- Respond to crisis situations as outlined by policies and procedures
- Oversee inmate activities including meals, visitation, and recreation
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and psychological test
- Proven ability to react in a calm and collected manner to emergency situations

Deputy Sheriff / Uniform Patrol Job Description
Under general supervision, exercises responsibility for the enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare. Exercises independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations, exercising safety practices and procedures. Works under stressful, high-risk conditions. Reports to assigned Chief Deputy or Sheriff.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities

- Patrols an assigned district in a patrol unit on assignment for the purpose of observing the
investigating complaints, and enforcing laws; maintains high visibility.
Investigates and reports accidents, dangerous or defective streets, sidewalks, orother hazardous conditions.
- Investigates crimes, interviews witnesses, complainants, and victims; and gathers physical
- Enforces all felony and misdemeanor laws of Texas.
- Apprehends, arrests, and detains criminal suspects and law violators when necessary; follows proper procedures when making arrests.
- Serves warrants, summonses, subpoenas, civil and other official papers.
- Serves as a witness in court and provides evidence in court as required.
- Responds to emergency calls, such as robberies, burglaries, kidnappings, assaults and murders; and practices safety procedures in answering and responding to calls.
- Checks residential and commercial property for security as requested; checks on Senior
- Assists motorists in various situations as needed.
- Contacts complainants and/or victims of crimes within a reasonable length of time; keeps
- Investigates and reports fires or other related events; keeps bystanders out of danger;
- Prepares, processes, and/or transmits various reports as required.
- Maintains required level of proficiency in the use of firearms, and evasive action/driving skills.
- High school diploma or GED
- Texas Peace Officer License
- Must be a US citizen (born or naturalized)
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Must be willing to work nights, evenings, overtime, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
- Drug and alcohol testing required
- Criminal, driving, education, and employment background checks required.
